Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Resource Specialist to join our team at the Latin American Youth Center. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of foster care youth and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit, train, and supervise treatment Foster Care Families to provide a safe and nurturing environment for youth.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date family files, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Conduct thorough home visits, interviews, and assessments to prepare comprehensive home study reports.
  • Provide guidance and support to foster families during emergencies and crises, ensuring the well-being and safety of all parties involved.
  • Develop and implement safety plans for clients and foster families, prioritizing their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Engage in retention activities to maintain a stable and supportive network of foster families.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide case management services as needed, ensuring a comprehensive and coordinated approach to youth support.
Requirements
  • Masters in Social Work or equivalent degree with at least two years of experience in a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of community and local resources, with a focus on supporting foster care youth and families.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record, with the ability to travel locally and regionally as needed.
  • High computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency, with the ability to navigate and utilize relevant software and systems.
  • Bilingual or fluent in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively with culturally diverse populations.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, with a flexible schedule and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
