Overview:
The position of the Manager entails substantial accountability. The Manager will act as a crucial link between Sellwoodmd and local emergency response teams during their shift.

This role also includes direct oversight of the daily functions of the service, managing on-duty EMS personnel, and collaborating with the Director in the annual evaluation process.


Key Responsibilities:
Organizes staff schedules and assigns crew and vehicle duties.
Allocates personnel daily to ensure the fulfillment of care requirements. Schedules staff and directs crew and vehicle assignments. Assigns teams to assist in the Emergency Department during downtime. If designated, formulates EMS schedules monthly using scheduling software.

Ensures an activation time of less than 2 minutes when an ambulance is available. Assesses scene safety and acts accordingly. Consistently adheres to universal precautions. Brings all necessary equipment to the patient as per policy. Ensures all patient equipment is transported with the patient (on the transport ambulance) during Paramedic intercepts. As needed based on patient condition, conducts a comprehensive and timely history and physical examination. Establishes an accurate working diagnosis.

Creates a treatment plan in accordance with service guidelines and/or medical directives, implements the care plan, communicates it to the patient/family, and monitors and documents outcomes.

Provides patient care in collaboration with the Emergency Physician and Charge Nurse in the Department.
Coordinates with Sellwoodmd Dispatch to prioritize calls for mutual assistance. Functions as EMS Branch Director (until relieved) during large-scale care events.
Collaborates with the ED Charge RN to offer EMS staff support for the ED.
Works with the clinical educator to assess low-frequency, high-risk procedures. Provides coaching to staff as necessary during shifts. Engages in ongoing quality assurance with Sellwoodmd providers. Participates in EMS and hospital-wide process enhancement initiatives.
Involved in interviewing potential employees.
Continuously assesses employee performance, conducting quarterly and annual evaluations of staff. Serves as the primary trainer and mentor for new hires and paramedics.
If assigned, completes weekly payroll.

Attends and represents EMS at hospital meetings. Participates in EMS management meetings. Represents EMS at hospital meetings. Presents at continuing medical education business meetings. Collaborates with the Director to draft operational policies. Represents EMS at hospital meetings and attends other hospital meetings as assigned.
Other duties as assigned by the Director related to fleet services, supplies/equipment, and emsCharts.

Qualifications:
The Manager must hold a valid State of Connecticut Paramedic license. A minimum of two years of college education is preferred, along with experience in a leadership role.

Experience Requirement:
Zero to six months

Certifications:
ACLS, BLS, CPR, Driver's License, PALS, Paramedic. Must maintain a valid driver's license.

Preferred Skills:
Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities. Capacity to remain composed and manage chaotic situations while establishing treatment and situational priorities.

Ongoing Requirements:
Maintain Connecticut paramedic license, ACLS, PALS, and BLS/CPR certifications. Preferred certifications include NRP, PHTLS, PEPP, GEMS, and CEVO.

Compensation:
$45.00 Hourly
