Role Summary:
The Emergency Response Clinical Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting nursing staff across various departments. This position involves the transport of critically ill patients and active participation in emergency response teams, including code teams and acute stroke teams. The coordinator is responsible for educating staff and fostering professional development within the team, reporting directly to the Patient Care Director.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care and Therapeutic Interventions: Uphold established nursing standards by engaging in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Participate in committees as assigned by the Patient Care Director and administer medications and IV solutions in accordance with hospital policies.
2. Crisis Management: Respond promptly to cardiac arrest, trauma alerts, and other emergencies, providing essential nursing care from resuscitation through patient admission. Assist nursing staff in managing patients with critical changes in condition and transport critically ill patients as needed.
3. Clinical Support: Serve as a clinical resource for staff, ensuring adherence to standards and protocols while facilitating interdisciplinary care for optimal patient outcomes.
4. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing education to enhance professional skills and participate in nursing committees and professional organizations.
5. Coordination and Consultation: Maintain communication with clinical managers and provide guidance to nursing staff during critical situations, ensuring patient needs are met effectively.
6. Team Development: Foster team growth by identifying learning needs and providing educational opportunities, while promoting critical thinking among staff.
7. Human Resources Management: Assist in staff development initiatives and participate in the hiring process, ensuring a competent and skilled nursing team.
8. Leadership: Act as a change agent, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and positive working relationships among units.
Additional Information:
Essential qualifications include a Bachelor's Level Degree and an active RN License. Candidates should possess a minimum of two years of experience in a critical care environment, along with certifications in ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, IV therapy, CPI, and PALS within specified timeframes.
Working Conditions:
This role requires significant manual dexterity and the ability to exert considerable physical effort. Candidates should be prepared for potential exposure to various occupational hazards.
