Chicopee, Massachusetts, United States Mental Health Association Full time

The Clinical Program Specialist will collaborate with supervisory and program personnel within the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Division, focusing on supporting both brain injury survivors and individuals engaged in the Moving Forward Plan (MFP). These individuals often navigate the complexities of aging within the state mental health framework, having previously received intensive case management for diagnosed mental health and substance use challenges. The aim is to provide tailored services to individuals who might otherwise be placed in skilled nursing facilities.

The Specialist will be responsible for crafting treatment strategies, behavioral protocols, and positive behavior frameworks that align with ABI regulatory standards. The goal is to reduce obstacles to delivering high-quality, evidence-based practices, programs, and services while ensuring comprehensive clinical oversight of the program in line with leadership objectives, organizational mission, policies, practices, funding sources, and relevant regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • In collaboration with supervisory staff, pinpoint clinical concerns, including behavioral challenges, social/communication deficits, independent living skills, and other educational or training requirements.
  • Provide expert consultation, assessment, and treatment planning to develop pre-crisis and crisis management strategies, behavioral protocols, risk assessments, and medication management plans.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of historical documentation to ensure a comprehensive understanding of relevant backgrounds. Engage with program staff, families, and other stakeholders to create clear, concise, and user-friendly treatment plans and data collection systems.
  • Ensure all necessary program personnel are trained in behavioral and clinical interventions, including data collection methodologies.
  • Participate in program-related meetings across agencies, including team meetings, risk assessments, ISP meetings, and medication reviews, to monitor the progress and challenges of established plans.
  • Conduct site visits to regularly engage with participants and staff, providing training, support, and relevant interventions.
  • Collaborate with teams and programs to design and implement positive behavior support strategies.
  • Actively engage in the licensing process by ensuring all behavioral guidelines and plans meet the standards set by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS).
  • Serve as a liaison to the ABI service network, state agencies, and community partners, fostering open communication to meet contract standards and advance the mission of the Mental Health Association within the community. Build and maintain relationships with local, state, federal, and private organizations to promote programs and identify potential alliances, partnerships, and funding opportunities.
  • Review incident reports to identify trends and training needs for program staff and managers.
  • Attend clinical consultations with external providers to maintain ongoing communication and participate in intake and discharge planning meetings as necessary.
  • Provide crisis intervention and assessment as required.
  • Pursue opportunities for personal and professional development by attending conferences, classes, and representing the agency at statewide meetings, task forces, and committees related to the area of expertise.
  • Promote and integrate the agency's mission, values, philosophy, and principles.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Vice President of the Division.
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working with individuals with acquired brain injuries, developmental disabilities, challenging behaviors, or mental health issues in a clinical capacity.
Benefits:
  • Comprehensive Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan (403B, IRA)
  • Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
  • Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity)
  • Long-Term Disability
