Clinical Program Specialist

Chicopee, Massachusetts, United States Mental Health Association Full time

The Clinical Program Specialist will collaborate with supervisory and program personnel within the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Division, providing support to both brain injury survivors and individuals engaged in the Moving Forward Plan (MFP).

These individuals often navigate the aging process through the state mental health system, having previously received intensive case management for diagnosed mental health conditions and substance use challenges.

To effectively assist these individuals with tailored services, particularly those at risk of being placed in skilled nursing facilities, the Specialist will focus on developing comprehensive treatment plans, behavioral guidelines, and positive behavior strategies that adhere to ABI regulatory standards.

The role aims to minimize obstacles to delivering high-quality, evidence-based practices, programs, and services, ensuring the overall clinical management of the program aligns with executive leadership goals, organizational mission, policies, practices, funding sources, and applicable regulatory agency guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

In collaboration with supervisory staff, identify areas of clinical concern, including but not limited to: behavioral challenges; social/communication deficits; independent living skills; and other educational or training requirements.

Provide consultation, assessment, and treatment planning for the development of pre-crisis and crisis intervention plans, behavioral guidelines, risk assessments, medication treatment plans, and more.

Conduct thorough reviews of historical documents to ensure a comprehensive understanding of relevant backgrounds.

Engage with program staff, families, and other stakeholders to create clear, concise, and user-friendly treatment plans and data collection systems.

Ensure all necessary program personnel are trained in behavioral and clinical interventions, including data collection procedures.

Participate in program-related meetings across agencies, including team meetings, risk assessments, ISP meetings, and medication reviews.

Monitor the progress and barriers of established plans through regular site visits to meet with participants and staff, providing training, support, and relevant interventions.

Work collaboratively with teams to develop and implement positive behavior support plans.

Actively engage in the licensing process by ensuring all behavioral guidelines and plans meet DDS standards.

Serve as a liaison to the ABI service system, state agencies, and community partners as needed.

Establish and maintain effective communication channels to meet contract standards and promote the mission of the Mental Health Association within the community.

Build and sustain relationships with local, state, federal, and private agencies to promote programs and identify potential new partnerships and funding opportunities.

Review incident reports to identify trends and training needs for program staff and managers.

Attend clinical consultations with external providers to ensure ongoing communication and participate in intake and discharge planning meetings as appropriate.

Provide crisis intervention and assessment as necessary, while pursuing activities that enhance personal professional development.

Attend conferences, workshops, and represent the agency at statewide meetings, task forces, and committees related to the area of expertise.

Promote and integrate the agency's mission, values, philosophy, and principles in all activities.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the Vice President of the Division.

Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Social Work, Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field.

A minimum of 5 years of experience working with individuals with acquired brain injuries, developmental disabilities, challenging behaviors, or mental health issues in a clinical setting is preferred.
