POSITION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of all communal spaces, including but not limited to the lobby, fitness area, spa, restrooms, staircases, hallways, vending areas, elevators, and service zones on guest floors, as well as back-of-house facilities such as offices and storage areas.

Assist room attendants by preparing rooms, replenishing linen supplies, and gathering necessary items.

Deliver and collect items as requested by guests, front desk personnel, and housekeeping supervisors, as well as any projects or requests from management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide courteous and friendly service to guests.
  • Maintain positive relations with guests at all times.
  • Oversee and ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Clean designated rooms or public areas to the highest standards as required.
  • Report any damage or theft in rooms or public spaces.
  • Complete maintenance work orders for guest rooms or public areas.
  • Clean windows as necessary.
  • Sweep and mop floors as scheduled and needed.
  • Promptly clean up any spills or accidents.
  • Load and unload supplies and equipment to stock guest room linen closets.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of floor closets; remove trash, wipe down shelves, sweep floors, and arrange inventory properly.
  • Transport all dirty linen, glassware, and trash from room attendants' carts to the appropriate area.
  • Ensure stairwells are clean and free of debris.
  • Keep entryway mats and guest hallways in pristine condition.
  • Evaluate and recommend cleaning products and equipment; maintain sufficient inventory of housekeeping supplies.
  • Participate in training that aligns with established cleanliness standards.
  • Adhere to all prescribed safety practices and methods.
  • Make suggestions to supervisors regarding changes that may lead to cost savings for the organization.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Basic understanding of microbial growth prevention and intervention.
  • Familiarity with infection control practices.
  • Awareness of Manufacturer's Safety Decals on cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Understanding of potential adverse reactions when mixing cleaning chemicals.
  • Knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
  • Familiarity with evaluation methods for cleaning products and equipment.
  • General knowledge of housekeeping operations.

SUPERVISION:

  • Directly supervised by the Housekeeping Supervisor.
  • Work is assigned based on objectives, priorities, occupancy, and deadlines.
  • Work is performed independently according to established policies.
  • Supervisors provide guidance on project objectives and priorities and are available for consultation on complex issues.
  • Independently plan and execute daily assignments using prescribed methods.
  • Completed work is inspected to ensure compliance with objectives and regulations.

GUIDELINES:

  • Utilize established cleanliness standards as set by the Housekeeping Manager and hospitality guidelines.
  • Guidelines include verbal instructions and organizational regulations, as well as handbooks and previous project files.
  • Adapt approaches to address problems while keeping the organization's best interests in mind.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is conducted in a hotel and casino setting within a climate-controlled environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Requires extensive physical activity including climbing, lifting, bending, and reaching.
  • Physical exertion primarily involves stocking closets and assisting room attendants in preparing guest rooms, including making beds, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning bathrooms.
  • May require lifting items weighing up to 70 lbs.
