Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler to join our team at the Center for Orthopedic and Research Excel. As a key member of our clinical support staff, you will be responsible for coordinating surgical procedures and ensuring seamless patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Surgical Coordination
    • Obtain medical clearances for scheduled surgeries and track patient information in our electronic medical record (EMR) system.
    • Navigate the EMR to scribe voicemails and return calls as needed, ensuring timely communication with patients and healthcare providers.
  • Scheduling and Coordination
    • Call patients to schedule surgery within 48 hours of the order being signed and schedule all pre-op and post-op appointments for the patient.
    • Provide ongoing communication with patients regarding pre-certification, authorization, financial counseling, and scheduling process.
  • Financial and Clinical Coordination
    • Collect patients' responsibility via telephone or instruct patients to bring required payment to their Pre-op appointment.
    • Communicate clinical instructions needed for appointments/procedures and ensure accurate updates to patient information in the practice management system and EMR.
  • Operational Support
    • Ensure canceled appointments and related ancillary appointments are canceled and communicated to all stakeholders.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of our clinical team.
Requirements
  • 2 years of medical office scheduling or 1-2 years of administration experience combined with orthopedic clinic experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong customer service orientation are required, with a strong background in computers and data entry.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance plans is essential.
