Your Role in Patient Care: A Day in the Life of a Therapeutic Program Specialist

As a Therapeutic Program Specialist at ERC Pathlight, you will join a dedicated team committed to delivering hands-on treatment, facilitating group therapy sessions, and providing support to our patients in various centers across the nation. Your responsibilities will include leading therapeutic groups based on established curricula. The Therapeutic Program Specialist will provide milieu support, crisis de-escalation, and behavioral coaching to patients in inpatient/residential and partial hospitalization programs. This role will allow you to apply your educational background in a practical setting.

You will engage with patients daily in several ways:
  • Leading curriculum-based therapeutic groups
  • Cross-training across different levels of care within your program
  • Milieu Management
    • Crisis de-escalation and management
    • Monitoring bathroom usage and conducting flush checks
    • Behavioral coaching
    • Conducting self-harm and suicide safety assessments
    • Assisting with morning routines in inpatient/residential programs
    • Collecting weights, vital signs, and urine samples in certain settings
  • Documenting group activities, meal observations, patient check-ins, and general observations
Qualifications for Therapeutic Program Specialist I:
  • Bachelor's degree required (in a mental health-related field)
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in a milieu or group therapy setting
  • Familiarity with de-escalation techniques and ACT/DBT skills training
  • Knowledge and application of Trauma-Informed Care principles
  • Understanding of various ways clients exhibit stress responses both behaviorally (e.g., avoidance, aggression, passivity) and psychologically/emotionally (e.g., hyperarousal, avoidance, intrusive memories)
Qualifications for Therapeutic Program Specialist II:
  • Master's degree required (license-eligible degree preferred)
  • Clinical associate/intern license preferred (must be willing to pursue licensure)
  • At least 6 months of milieu experience in a mental health facility required
  • Preferred experience of 1 year or more in group curriculum facilitation and therapeutic milieu skills
  • Familiarity with de-escalation techniques and ACT/DBT skills training
  • Knowledge and application of Trauma-Informed Care principles
  • Understanding of various ways clients exhibit stress responses both behaviorally and psychologically/emotionally

Compensation for the Therapeutic Program Specialist role ranges from $22.00 to $28.00 per hour, based on market standards and candidate experience.
