Position Overview:
The Nurse Manager for Infusion Services is tasked with the comprehensive oversight and administration of staff within the outpatient infusion services and oncology clinic.
This role encompasses all facets of daily operations in infusion services and the oncology clinic, ensuring patient care is delivered through effective nursing practices and continuous quality improvement, in collaboration with the healthcare team.
The position entails various responsibilities to guarantee that quality and regulatory standards are consistently met, while also supporting the Director of Pharmacy and Oncology in addressing the needs of both staff and patients.
The Nurse Manager is accountable for the onboarding and training of oncology and infusion personnel.
This role includes management of outpatient infusion services, which involves chemotherapy administration and the processing of oral specialty medication prescription authorizations.
Proficiency in IV insertions for adults, as well as management of PICC lines and Port-a-Caths, is essential, along with skills in phlebotomy, blood transfusions, conducting nursing assessments, and effective communication with physicians and staff.
Acting as a liaison between staff and external departments/providers is crucial to ensure that both employee and patient needs are addressed. A high degree of self-motivation and initiative is required, along with the ability to work independently.
Experience with Cerner EMR is necessary.

Education/Training:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required; a BSN or MSN is preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience as a registered nurse is preferred, with specific experience in infusion and oncology settings. Required skills include:
- Current registered nurse licensure in Colorado.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- BLS certification is required; ACLS certification is preferred.
- ONS Chemo/Bio Certification is required; ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Certification is preferred.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English is essential; proficiency in additional languages is a plus. Candidates must demonstrate active listening skills and the ability to articulate thoughts clearly in both spoken and written forms.
Physical/Mental/Special Demands:
Ability to maintain a rapid pace of work, with frequent walking and physical activity required. Candidates must be capable of:
- Working at heights of 24-40 inches.
- Assisting patients with mobility, including transferring from wheelchairs.
- Lifting and positioning patients weighing over 50 pounds.
- Maintaining adequate hearing and vision to perform job functions effectively.
Work involves extensive use of computers, requiring repetitive motions for prolonged periods. Candidates must be prepared to initiate CPR as needed and possess fine motor skills. The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions is crucial.
Work Environment:
This position is based in an outpatient infusion setting, which may involve exposure to work-related stress, environmental factors, and regular interruptions. The noise level is moderate, and there may be exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and communicable diseases. Daily interactions with the public, colleagues, vendors, and patients are expected.
