Position Overview:
  • The Nurse Manager for Infusion Services oversees and directs the personnel within the outpatient infusion area and oncology clinic.
  • This role encompasses the management of daily operations for infusion services and the oncology clinic, ensuring that patient care is delivered effectively through nursing processes and continuous quality improvement in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality and regulatory standards within the department, this position also supports the Director of Pharmacy and Oncology in addressing the needs of both staff and patients.
  • In charge of onboarding and training new oncology and infusion staff members.
  • The Nurse Manager is accountable for outpatient infusion services, including chemotherapy administration and the processing of oral specialty medication prescription authorizations.
  • Proficiency in adult IV insertions, PICC line and Port-a-Cath management, phlebotomy, blood transfusions, and conducting nursing assessments is essential.
  • This role acts as a liaison between staff and external departments/providers to ensure that the needs of employees and patients are met. A high degree of self-motivation and initiative is required to function independently.
Qualifications:
  • Education/Training: Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program. A BSN or MSN is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a registered nurse is preferred, with required experience in infusion and oncology infusion.
  • Special Skills, Licenses or Certifications: Must hold a valid nursing license in Colorado. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, are necessary. Strong customer service and communication skills are required. BLS certification is mandatory; ACLS certification is preferred. ONS Chemo/Bio Certification is required, with ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Certification preferred.
  • Language Skills: Must demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English. Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
Physical/Mental/Special Demands:
  • Must be able to walk rapidly for the majority of the time and work at heights of 24-40 inches. Capable of assisting in the transfer of adult patients and lifting weights exceeding 50 pounds. Adequate hearing and vision are required to perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to initiate CPR and possess fine motor skills consistently. Must manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. A strong mental health status is essential, along with the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
Work Environment:
  • The work setting is an outpatient infusion environment, which may involve exposure to stress, noise, and potential health hazards. Regular communication with the public, co-workers, vendors, and patients is required.
