Job Title: Contract Manager

Join the Virginia Department of Transportation as a Contract Manager and play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our transportation infrastructure.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Contract Manager to oversee the daily activities of contractors performing maintenance activities within our residency. As a Contract Manager, you will be responsible for managing, evaluating, and documenting contractor performance to ensure work is performed according to contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the review and inspection of completed work
  • Communicate and meet with contractors to discuss contract questions and resolve conflicts
  • Review projects with various individuals, including contractors, prior to work beginning or work orders being issued
  • Assist with the maintenance of contract department files and records
  • Perform maintenance contract development by providing scope, compiling, and reviewing maintenance and response contracts
  • Coordinate for materials, equipment, and labor for various contracts
  • Ensure contract work is in compliance with all safety regulations and agency standards
Requirements
  • Knowledge of contract administration and monitoring
  • Knowledge of roadside and roadway maintenance and construction operations, equipment, materials, and process details
  • Ability to develop contract specifications and scopes of work
  • Ability to gather data, analyze problems, make logical decisions, document, and communicate performance results
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel independently among assigned work locations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience administering maintenance contracts
  • Experience with government procurement practices, including purchase orders, work orders, and contractor payments
  • Experience with M7B process
  • Knowledge of state permit process related to roadway construction and maintenance activities
  • Field experience in highway maintenance/construction
  • DEQ Erosion and Sediment Control certification
  • VCA certification
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
