Position Summary:

The Applications Engineer specializing in Gas Engine Controls will play a pivotal role in the design and implementation of control systems for power generation utilizing reciprocating gas engines. This position emphasizes the modernization and adaptation of control systems across various programmable platforms, focusing on multipoint injection controls and related gas valve technologies, as well as auxiliary control systems including PLCs, HMIs, SCADAs, AVRs, and protective relays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate independently while managing complex site applications from inception to completion, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery.
  • Oversee and mentor junior engineers and field service personnel on tasks specifically related to gas engine applications.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing specialized consultancy in applications engineering.
  • Develop innovative and tailored applications to meet diverse client needs.
  • Contribute to the establishment of standards and processes that enhance engineering practices within the company.
  • Champion multiple products and applications, ensuring their successful integration within the organization.
  • Conduct inspections of electrical systems and components to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with relevant codes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to electrical machinery and systems.
  • Install and replace electrical and electronic components in various systems.
  • Design and test integrated safety control systems for both onboard and land-based applications.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including manuals and electrical drawings.
  • Report on project scope, activities, findings, and conditions in line with manufacturer specifications and company standards.
  • Achieve project goals in alignment with corporate strategies and leadership competencies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Extensive expertise in the technical applications relevant to the company's offerings.
  • Experience with automation control systems and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated initiative and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Additional Information:

  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday.
  • Travel Expectations: Up to 25%, including overnight stays.
  • Relocation assistance available as needed.
  • Salary Range: $110,000 - $135,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
  • Eligible for annual bonus and commission on qualifying projects.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or 12 years of experience in power generation or industrial automation.
