Compensation: $24.00 to $32.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Position Summary

This role is designed for individuals at the apprentice level focusing on preventative maintenance in the field. The primary responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance on various marine engine products, including Volvo-Penta, MTU, and 2-cycle Detroit Diesel engines. This position is ideal for candidates with some industry experience or recent graduates from diesel engine programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct preventative maintenance for marine engines, specifically Volvo, MTU, and 2-cycle Detroit Diesel products.
  1. Perform Oil Service
  2. Execute Coolant Service
  3. Manage Sea Water System Service
  4. Oversee Battery System Service
  5. Conduct Belt and Hose Service
  6. Facilitate Drive Service
  7. Implement Hydraulic Steering Service
  8. Carry out Visual Inspections
  9. Perform Operational Inspections

Additional Duties:

  • Safely transport new and used engine fluids to and from vessels.
  • Engage professionally with customers on-site.
  • Maintain cleanliness in yacht engine rooms.
  • Promote additional services while on-site.
  • Ensure a safe and organized work environment in both the shop and field.
  • Document service and repairs accurately.
  • Embrace new challenges and seek value-added opportunities.
  • Complete other assigned tasks as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Proficient with electrical multi-meters.
  • Possess a basic set of mechanic's tools.
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card preferred.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Must have a valid, unrestricted driver's license and be insurable.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 25% of the time.
  • Valid Passport preferred.
  • Periodic travel may include off-hours and weekends.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic.
  • Forklift certification is preferred.
Experience and Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with diesel engines, preferably in marine applications.
  • Experience with Volvo, Detroit Diesel, and MTU products is preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to crawl, climb, and stand for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs. regularly.
