Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role, you will provide essential support for day-to-day accounting operations and contribute to the accurate recording and management of financial transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy in financial records.
  • Process ACH batches efficiently and maintain meticulous documentation.
  • Reconcile petty cash and metro card expenses for various programs, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
  • Maintain organized invoice and vendor files, both electronically and physically.
  • Prepare bank deposits promptly and accurately.
  • Support audit field work by providing necessary documentation and information.
  • Manage corporate credit card expenses, including summarizing transactions, entering data, and reconciling receipts.
  • Assist the Accounts Payable team with invoice processing, check preparation, and vendor file maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Manager on journal entries and monthly close procedures.
  • Organize financial documents and records to ensure efficient retrieval and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Record daily financial transactions in the general ledger accurately and promptly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is required. CPA certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit or government sector.
  • Proven experience in preparing, tracking, and analyzing reimbursement claims for various funding sources (NYC, NY State, Federal).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant accounting software.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
