Job Overview

Position Title: Crisis Liaison

Classification: Hourly Non-Exempt

Reporting To: Crisis Services Manager

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 40 hours/week; 1.0 FTE

Key Responsibilities:

The Crisis Liaison plays a crucial role in supporting the Crisis Team, Case Managers, and other personnel in delivering essential crisis services as part of a collaborative treatment team.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or four years of relevant education and/or experience in the human services sector.
  • Certification in the State of Kansas to provide the service, which includes background checks for criminal history, abuse/neglect registry, and professional qualifications.
  • Completion of a KDADS-approved training program within six months of employment.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records is preferred.
  • Proficiency in the English language is required.
Essential Duties:
  • Manage and triage crisis phone inquiries, coordinating necessary services.
  • Assist the Crisis Team, Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs), and other staff in organizing state or acute psychiatric hospitalizations, as well as admissions and discharges from crisis/respite facilities.
  • Provide supportive interactions with clients in crisis to ensure their safety.
  • Collaborate with community partners, including hospital emergency rooms, primary care physicians, law enforcement, and educational staff, to stay updated on crisis situations.
  • Fulfill responsibilities as Hospital Liaison for two state hospitals.
  • Coordinate duties as the PRTF Coordinator, which involves communication, phone coordination, and discharge planning with the PRTF where clients are placed.
  • Occasional work outside of standard hours may be required and will be compensated as overtime.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Role:

This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods.
  • Ability to concentrate on computer screens for prolonged durations.
Work Environment:
  • The primary work location will be in the Hiawatha Main Office, with potential travel to other sites as necessary.
  • Professional, deadline-driven atmosphere.
  • Engagement with other team members is expected.
