POSITION TITLE: Crisis Case Manager

REPORTS TO: Crisis Services Manager

DIRECT REPORTS: None

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt; PRN; employment-at-will position.

SCHEDULE: The work schedule is PRN, or as-needed, with shift options including: 12:00am to 12:00pm, or 12:00pm to 12:00am on weekends.

OBJECTIVE: The primary role of the Crisis Case Manager is to provide assistance to individuals facing a mental health emergency in a compassionate and secure manner within community environments. This position is part of a mobile crisis response team composed of licensed therapists, case managers, and peer support specialists. The team's mission is to deliver prompt support and empathy to individuals in our service area who may benefit from immediate intervention or require more intensive care, such as psychiatric hospitalization.

KEY GOALS:

  1. Facilitate rapid relief for individuals in crisis and aid in resolving their immediate situations.
  2. Engage with individuals in settings where they feel most at ease.
  3. Provide necessary care without resorting to law enforcement or emergency room visits.
  4. Ensure seamless integration of crisis response services within the broader Kanza care framework, connecting individuals to appropriate resources based on their needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Deliver crisis stabilization support and observation as part of a collaborative crisis team.
  2. Effectively manage crisis situations using positive intervention techniques while assessing triggers and risk factors.
  3. Demonstrate familiarity with program protocols and behavior management during suicide precautions and welfare checks.
  4. Maintain a calm and non-reactive demeanor during crises, employing non-physical de-escalation strategies.
  5. Collaborate with medical and law enforcement personnel while upholding confidentiality standards.
  6. Participate actively in a multidisciplinary treatment team alongside therapists, case managers, and peer support specialists.
  7. Assist with admissions, discharges, and transportation of individuals as necessary.
  8. Adhere to safety protocols while providing observation and support in various settings.
  9. Complete all required documentation by the end of each shift.
  10. Exhibit punctuality and reliability in attendance for scheduled shifts and training sessions.
  11. Establish and maintain professional boundaries with individuals and colleagues.
  12. Consistently work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  13. Communicate effectively with individuals, coworkers, and supervisors.
  14. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  15. Maintain up-to-date training as required by the agency.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree in human services preferred or equivalent experience in the field.
  2. Must be at least 21 years of age; proficient in English; able to pass background checks and drug screenings.
  3. Experience with individuals facing Serious Mental Illness (SMI) or Substance Use Disorders (SUD) is advantageous.
  4. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  6. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  7. Proficient in computer use and electronic health record systems.
  8. Must maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  9. Must possess a valid driver's license and have a safe driving record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  2. Frequent movement between various worksites.
  3. Ability to adjust or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
  4. Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, or fingers.
  5. Ability to withstand outdoor conditions.
  6. This position requires frequent use of a company vehicle.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The role involves movement across diverse settings, including office, community, and home environments. Crisis Case Managers may encounter various socio-economic backgrounds and potentially aggressive situations.

SALARY: Compensation is based on experience and the Kanza MHGC salary structure.

PRIMARY LOCATION: Flexible office assignment as necessary.
