POSITION TITLE: Crisis Case Manager

REPORTS TO: Crisis Services Manager

DIRECT REPORTS: None

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt; PRN; employment-at-will position.

SCHEDULE: The work schedule is PRN, or as-needed, with shift options including: 12:00am to 12:00pm, or 12:00pm to 12:00am on weekends.

OBJECTIVE: The primary role of the Crisis Case Manager is to provide assistance to individuals facing a mental health emergency in a secure and supportive manner within the community. This position is part of a mobile crisis response team composed of licensed therapists, case managers, and peer support specialists. The team aims to deliver prompt support and compassion to individuals in our service area who may benefit from immediate intervention or require more intensive care, such as psychiatric hospitalization.

KEY GOALS:

  1. To facilitate quick relief for individuals in crisis and resolve the situation effectively.
  2. To engage with individuals in a comfortable environment, providing necessary support.
  3. To ensure appropriate care without unnecessary involvement of law enforcement or emergency services.
  4. To integrate crisis response services within the broader Kanza care system, ensuring seamless transitions to necessary services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Deliver crisis stabilization support and observation as part of a crisis response team.
  2. Effectively manage crisis situations using positive approaches while assessing triggers and risk factors.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of program protocols and behavior management during crisis interventions.
  4. Respond to crises calmly, utilizing non-physical de-escalation techniques.
  5. Collaborate with medical and law enforcement personnel while maintaining confidentiality.
  6. Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team, working alongside various specialists.
  7. Assist with admissions, discharges, safety checks, and transport of individuals.
  8. Adhere to safety guidelines while providing observation and support in various settings.
  9. Complete all required documentation by the end of each shift.
  10. Maintain punctuality and attendance for all scheduled shifts and training sessions.
  11. Establish and maintain professional boundaries with individuals and colleagues.
  12. Demonstrate effective communication skills with individuals, coworkers, and supervisors.
  13. Ensure compliance with program policies and procedures.
  14. Participate in annual training as required by the agency.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree in human services preferred or equivalent experience in the field.
  2. Must be at least 21 years of age; proficient in English; able to pass background and drug screening.
  3. Experience with individuals facing Serious Mental Illness (SMI), Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED), or Substance Use Disorders (SUD) is preferred.
  4. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  7. Proficient in using computers and electronic health record systems.
  8. Must maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  9. Must possess a valid driver's license and have a safe driving record.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  2. Frequent movement between various worksites.
  3. Ability to adjust or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
  4. Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, or fingers.
  5. Ability to withstand outdoor elements.
  6. Frequent use of a company vehicle for transportation.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The role requires movement across different settings, including office, community, and home environments. Exposure to various socio-economic conditions and potentially aggressive situations may occur.

CONFIDENTIALITY: All employees are expected to uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and ethical conduct.

SALARY: Salary will be determined based on experience and the Kanza MHGC salary structure.

PRIMARY LOCATION: No specific office assignment required; Kanza office location available as needed.
