Job Overview

Position Summary:

  • The Family Support Specialist assists the Kinship Care Coordinator in ensuring that children in foster care maintain secure and lasting connections within their family structures.

Work Environment:

  • Flexible; dependent on client requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Background:

  • Minimum of one year of experience in child and family services

Licensing Requirements:

  • Current driver's license
  • Active Auto Insurance
  • Must be at least 21 years of age

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document management including scanning and filing essential records such as:
  • Initial home study documents, annual assessments, background verification results, and family structure documentation.
  • Completing and entering New Provider Forms into the database.
  • Ensuring that relative information is accurately recorded in the Family Structure section of the KVC CARE system.
  • Conducting background checks on potential kinship placements.
  • Performing online searches for family connections using various resources.
  • Engaging with potential relatives through various communication methods.
  • Providing necessary resources to relatives for child care, including safety equipment and household items.
  • Creating and maintaining Kinship Resource Binders with up-to-date information.
  • Tracking and ensuring timely completion of annual relative assessments.
  • Updating Kinship documentation and maintaining relevant online platforms.
  • Facilitating communication between relatives and relevant agencies.
  • Offering childcare support during family engagement activities.
