Position Summary:
- The Family Support Specialist assists the Kinship Care Coordinator in ensuring that children in foster care maintain secure and lasting connections within their family structures.
Work Environment:
- Flexible; dependent on client requirements
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Background:
- Minimum of one year of experience in child and family services
Licensing Requirements:
- Current driver's license
- Active Auto Insurance
- Must be at least 21 years of age
Key Responsibilities:
- Document management including scanning and filing essential records such as:
- Initial home study documents, annual assessments, background verification results, and family structure documentation.
- Completing and entering New Provider Forms into the database.
- Ensuring that relative information is accurately recorded in the Family Structure section of the KVC CARE system.
- Conducting background checks on potential kinship placements.
- Performing online searches for family connections using various resources.
- Engaging with potential relatives through various communication methods.
- Providing necessary resources to relatives for child care, including safety equipment and household items.
- Creating and maintaining Kinship Resource Binders with up-to-date information.
- Tracking and ensuring timely completion of annual relative assessments.
- Updating Kinship documentation and maintaining relevant online platforms.
- Facilitating communication between relatives and relevant agencies.
- Offering childcare support during family engagement activities.
