Position Overview

The Railroad Commission of Texas is a prominent regulatory body overseeing the oil and natural gas sector, pipeline transportation, and safety protocols. We are dedicated to ensuring the effective management of these industries.

To fulfill our mission, we are seeking a skilled Administrative Assistant to provide advanced administrative support within the Field Operations Section of the Oil and Gas Division. This role is crucial as it involves managing complex administrative tasks related to the State Managed Plugging (SMP) and Cleanup (SMCU) programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct operator and wellbore research utilizing Commission data systems.
  • Draft, edit, and disseminate correspondence, forms, and documentation.
  • Assist in the management and organization of SMP and SMCU publications, files, and records.
  • Support the processing of SMP and SMCU recommendations and invoices.
  • Address inquiries related to SMP and SMCU from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform additional essential tasks to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Engage in related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience in administrative support roles.
  • Experience and education may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Skills
  • One year of experience in business office practices and communicating policies and procedures.
  • One year of experience in drafting business documents with a strong command of grammar and comprehension.
  • Experience in maintaining both physical and digital records, as well as organizing filing systems.
  • Familiarity with oil and gas operations and knowledge of Railroad Commission regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic mathematical proficiency.
  • Familiarity with telephone switchboard operations.
  • Understanding of professional protocols.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in information provision.
  • Proficiency in standard office equipment.
  • Organizational skills for managing information.
  • Ability to file documents accurately and retrieve files efficiently.
  • Competence in using computers, including Word, Excel, email, and databases.
  • Capability to follow concise oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Work Environment:

Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Flexible work schedules and telework options may be available based on operational needs.
