About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Rail Processor to join our team at Wallenius Wilhelmsen. As a Rail Processor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of railcars.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Shipment Preparation: Perform duties to prepare railcars for shipment, including opening and closing railcar doors, setting bridge plates, and conducting onboard surveys of vehicles.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Complete required WWS and/or customer forms, and perform daily inspections on bridge plates and chocks.
  • Light Maintenance: Perform light maintenance on Railroad Equipment, including loading and unloading railcars in compliance with company Safety and Quality standards.
  • Yard Operations: Ensure vehicles are spotted according to customer standards within the rail car, and secure vehicles according to customer standards onto outbound railcars.
  • Additional Tasks: Perform yard scanning, trash, snow, and ice removal as needed.
Requirements
  • Physical Demands: Requires the ability to raise floating railcar decks, from shoulder position to overhead position (minimum 80 lbs. up to 100 lbs. and set bridge plates overhead (up to 45 lbs.) for long periods of time.
  • Continuous Movement: This position requires continuous and extensive walking, frequent kneeling, bending, and stooping while inside rail cars, working with and around moving mechanical parts, and good balance.
  • Safety Equipment: Must wear/use all issued safety equipment and gear.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Complete understanding of, or ability to quickly learn distribution processes, customer requirements concerning vehicle condition and reporting, and have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
