Position Overview

The Lead Planner for Willow Infrastructure Projects is a pivotal role under the guidance of the Project Controls Manager - Infrastructure. This position is responsible for overseeing the planning and scheduling team dedicated to infrastructure initiatives. The role includes active participation in the Infrastructure Project Controls Leadership team and various other responsibilities as needed. The Lead Planner will engage in all planning and scheduling activities related to Infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating a comprehensive resource-loaded plan for the entire lifecycle of Infrastructure projects.
  • Assisting in the implementation and upkeep of the integrated infrastructure project schedule, ensuring timely and precise data entry.
  • Customizing existing procedures and offering guidance to Infrastructure Teams (Gravel, Pipelines, Power, Airstrip) for project planning and scheduling tasks, including baselines, forecasts, actuals, and critical path analysis.
  • Facilitating planning coordination across different phases and organizations.
  • Leading presentations on planning and scheduling to the Infrastructure Management Team and other project management personnel.
  • Ensuring adherence to corporate and Willow Project scheduling standards and procedures by the project team.
  • Collaborating with project teams and contractors to guarantee timely and accurate integration of all project schedule data into the overall infrastructure schedule.
  • Working with the Program Planning and Scheduling Lead to align the infrastructure planning and scheduling program with the main project schedule.
  • Evaluating incoming project schedules, conducting variance and trend analysis, and advising project teams on recovery or alternative plans as necessary.
  • Coordinating with the Infrastructure Cost Lead to ensure alignment between the Infrastructure schedule and cost budget forecasts.
  • Preparing monthly planning and scheduling dashboard reports for the infrastructure scope and fulfilling all monthly reporting obligations.
  • Overseeing the change and trend management processes for contractors and managing the owner's trend and change management.
  • Assessing and documenting any infrastructure change orders for cost implications.
  • Reviewing contractor-proposed baseline schedules, updated schedules, manpower plans, critical paths, and progress reports, providing timely feedback to the Project Controls Manager, the Infrastructure team, and contractors.
  • Ensuring contractors are informed about the Enterprise Schedule architecture, software requirements, reporting needs, and any database modifications.
  • Conducting schedule risk analysis as required.
  • Performing schedule audits using a standardized checklist.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership capabilities.
  • Over 9 years of experience in major capital projects within Oil & Gas, Refinery, or Petrochemical sectors, with increasing levels of responsibility and complexity.
  • Extensive proficiency with Primavera software.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as necessary.
  • High technical proficiency in Project Controls, particularly in Planning and Scheduling, progress measurement, CPM scheduling, and Critical Change Management, along with expert knowledge of Project Controls systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Arctic projects and construction.
  • More than 9 years of direct project planning experience in Arctic oil and gas initiatives.
  • Understanding of Project Controls, Cost Engineering, Planning & Scheduling, and Forecasting.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and promote established planning and control practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Effective communicator, capable of collaborating with project managers and team members to identify and resolve issues.

Project Overview

The Willow project, located in Alaska's North Slope, is projected to produce significant oil output at its peak, contributing substantially to the economy.

The project encompasses multiple phases and areas, including detailed design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of various infrastructure components.
