ConocoPhillips is a prominent player in the oil and gas sector, seeking a skilled Lead Pipeline Construction Manager for a contractual engagement. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective and secure execution of the pipeline construction initiatives.

Position Summary:

The Lead Pipeline Construction Manager will report functionally to the Pipeline Superintendent and will be an integral member of the construction team. This position is accountable for the comprehensive management of the pipeline construction program.

Key responsibilities include overseeing the daily activities of construction coordinators and collaborating with a field planner to coordinate and prioritize contractor operations. The manager will review engineering schematics, assess material requirements, identify potential issues, and lead the preparation process before contractor mobilization.

Upon mobilization, the manager will monitor construction progress, address simultaneous operations challenges, provide insights on prioritizing critical tasks, and ensure the health and safety of all personnel on-site.

The scope of work encompasses approximately 200 miles of above-ground pipeline, 8,500 vertical support structures, 30 miles of above-ground power and fiber, and three horizontally directionally drilled pipeline sections under river crossings.

The project will be executed across two distinct work fronts, covering 85 miles, with the manager overseeing one of these fronts.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:


As a vital member of the construction team, the Lead Pipeline Construction Manager will:

  • Develop and finalize annual construction strategies.
  • Supervise field construction activities and lead safety and environmental performance.
  • Prepare construction readiness checklists for seasonal campaigns.
  • Review construction permits, engineering drawings, and identify execution constraints.
  • Engage in the constructability review process and provide feedback to relevant roles.
  • Contribute to construction support strategies including logistics and material delivery.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and best practices across projects.

Execution Responsibilities:
Lead the construction readiness process, ensuring all deliverables are met and approved prior to contractor mobilization. Oversee all construction resources to ensure project milestones are achieved while adhering to company standards for scope, cost, quality, and health, safety, and environment (HSE) compliance.

Monitor contractor performance through key performance indicators and facilitate regular performance review meetings.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
Proactively lead HSE initiatives by enforcing policies and guidelines. Conduct job site inspections, participate in safety meetings, and promote a culture of safety.

Qualification Requirements:
Basic / Required:
Proven track record in leading large-scale construction projects safely and effectively. A minimum of 10 years in pipeline construction and 7 years in supervisory roles is essential. Candidates must be prepared to work on a rotational schedule.

Preferred:
A bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred. Experience with capital project management systems and construction in Arctic conditions is advantageous. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines are essential.
