Job Summary:

The Mechanical Project Engineer will oversee the planning, organization, and execution of project scope development, cost estimation, and management of approved project scopes. This role includes providing technical assistance during the construction and commissioning phases to guarantee proper installation and adherence to project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage actively in all site safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with safety protocols in both office and field environments.
  • Guide project objectives and performance standards for all assigned initiatives, focusing on scope development, budget management, scheduling, quality assurance, mechanical performance, safety, environmental considerations, customer satisfaction, and compliance with legal regulations.
  • Become proficient in the stage-gated process for initiating, developing, and executing capital projects, which includes maintaining all relevant project documentation and managing the approval workflow.
  • Collaborate effectively both independently and within a team to see projects through from inception to completion, achieving the defined goals. Teams will consist of members from various departments such as Process Design, Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering, Reliability Engineering, and Operations.
  • Track and report on project costs monthly, including cash flow forecasting, and manage change orders, scope control, external contract engineering, and material quality assurance.
  • Oversee the Management of Change (MOC) process for assigned projects, leading Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews (PSSRs) to ensure safe commissioning and startup of new installations.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Project Engineer role, preferably within the Petroleum Refinery sector, though experience in Chemical or Power Industries will also be considered.
