Job Overview: In this position, you will be responsible for the sales of scientific products and services within Austria, focusing on clients involved in research and development as well as production in the Biotech industry.

The Account Manager will foster strong customer relationships with both existing and prospective clients, identify growth opportunities, and ensure profitability while meeting sales and profit objectives.

We are seeking an Account Manager to join our Customer Channels Group / Fisher Scientific, a division of Thermo Fisher Scientific, to serve our key clients in Austria.

Reporting Structure: You will report to the Senior Regional Sales Manager and will be tasked with driving sales and supporting our clients while enhancing profitability through effective territory planning and organization of sales calls and visits.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive sales of Biotech-specific products, support supplier partnerships, and actively promote core products and valuable services.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of Thermo Fisher Scientific's sales positioning and product offerings relevant to your market segment.
  • Utilize this knowledge to effectively demonstrate the strengths and breadth of the organization by building and sustaining a robust network within Thermo Fisher Scientific.
  • Communicate the tailored Thermo Fisher Scientific value proposition to key clients.
  • Achieve or surpass sales and margin targets for your designated territory.
  • Formulate and execute strategic and tactical sales plans for your territory to meet revenue and gross margin objectives using company-defined financial models.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure continued market penetration and profitability through in-depth engagement with scientific end-users and purchasing contacts.
  • Employ communication and influencing skills to effectively leverage internal resources and enhance selling efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow sales team members within the customer segment.
  • Implement strategies for assigned Program and non-Program accounts.
  • Identify and address customer needs to capitalize on valuable business opportunities.
  • Monitor metrics related to personal administration.
  • Maintain the sales force automation system.

Performance Metrics: Review, maintain, and lead compliance with key performance indicators, including but not limited to sales performance, call planning, call rate, and opportunity management.


Key to Success:
  • Sales experience or a highly motivated newcomer.
  • Experience in science and/or laboratory management, particularly in laboratory equipment, lab consumables, chemicals, and life sciences products.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in the sciences, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and web applications, along with experience using sales force software.
  • Commercial mindset, driven by a desire to acquire new business.
  • Fluency in German and English.
  • Excellent interpersonal/collaboration, time management, communication, presentation, strategic selling, and negotiation skills.
  • Confident personality, capable of engaging effectively with clients across various settings, including one-on-one meetings, exhibitions, and formal presentations.
