Wastewater Transport Area Supervisor

Position: Area Supervisor (Wastewater Transport)

The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority is seeking an Area Supervisor for Wastewater Transport to oversee the operational and maintenance activities of designated wastewater and/or water treatment facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and instruct operational and maintenance staff as necessary.
- Evaluate performance to ensure compliance with safety and efficiency standards for uninterrupted wastewater and water transport and treatment services.
- Coordinate and engage in the operational and maintenance tasks of facilities, including chemical feed systems, grit collection systems, and sludge management.
- Manage the operation of treatment processing units, including settling tanks and disinfection systems.
- Communicate effectively with other supervisors and management regarding operational conditions and maintenance needs.
- Control and monitor various systems, including pumping equipment and ventilation systems.
- Oversee preventive maintenance and coordinate corrective actions with relevant personnel.
- Maintain and review operational records and data, preparing daily and weekly reports with insights and recommendations.
- Request necessary materials and supplies for operations and report major equipment repair needs.
- Conduct regular inspections to assess facility conditions and ensure compliance with operational standards.
Qualifications:
This role requires a high school diploma or GED, along with a solid understanding of the principles and methods used in the operation and maintenance of large municipal wastewater or water treatment facilities, typically acquired through 5 to 7 years of direct experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role. Successful completion of the MWRA supervisory training program may substitute for supervisory experience.
A Massachusetts Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's Grade 4 license and a Massachusetts Wastewater Collections System IV certification are mandatory. A valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator License is also required.
