Job Overview:

The Infection Preventionist V is responsible for the development and execution of comprehensive infection prevention and control strategies. This role involves identifying infection control challenges, monitoring disease outbreaks, and escalating significant findings. The position requires a thorough analysis of data related to infection prevention initiatives to pinpoint areas needing enhancement. Additionally, the Infection Preventionist designs and implements educational programs aimed at promoting infection control awareness across the organization. This includes reviewing policies and procedures pertinent to occupational health.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates knowledge sharing by effectively communicating critical information and offering guidance to advance projects; fosters relationships with various stakeholders. Actively listens and responds to feedback, providing constructive insights to peers and leadership while mentoring junior staff. Demonstrates self-leadership by formulating and executing strategies to leverage strengths and address development areas; influences team dynamics positively. Adjusts to shifting priorities and embraces new responsibilities, learning from challenges and feedback. Exemplifies collaborative teamwork across departments.
  • Oversees specialized projects by leveraging extensive expertise in infection control; ensures compliance with established protocols and guidelines. Collaborates with internal and external partners to make informed business decisions; develops and implements processes to resolve complex issues, escalating urgent matters as necessary. Creates detailed work plans to align with organizational goals and deadlines, coordinating resources effectively to achieve desired outcomes. Identifies and seizes opportunities for improvement, assessing proposed recommendations and guiding project completion.
  • Provides educational support on infection prevention by engaging with clinical staff and patients regarding infection control practices and new medical equipment; evaluates the educational needs of stakeholders and incorporates feedback to enhance learning experiences. Designs and delivers comprehensive training materials and programs for both general orientation and specific clinical departments.
  • Applies epidemiological expertise by analyzing data on occupational exposure to infectious diseases and reviewing relevant infection control policies and workflows.
  • Employs epidemiological methods to conduct surveillance, identifying infection control issues, disease outbreaks, and other public health concerns, and reporting findings to leadership. Collaborates with senior personnel to implement surveillance initiatives aimed at monitoring infection control challenges.
  • Contributes to performance improvement efforts by assessing infection prevention programs to identify enhancement opportunities; selects and applies performance improvement methodologies to drive continuous improvement. Ensures that stakeholder needs are prioritized in process design and evaluates the effectiveness of improvement initiatives, providing recommendations to address ongoing challenges. Participates actively in performance improvement committees and initiatives.
  • Engages in continuous surveillance by monitoring infection cases in alignment with the annual infection prevention program; develops and executes organizational infection prevention strategies. Interprets and aligns with national standards to formulate infection control policies and procedures, conducting regular assessments of clinical environments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
