Are you passionate about aiding your community and ensuring that residents have access to essential heating assistance during the colder months? The Department of Human Services is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team and contribute positively to the lives of Pennsylvania citizens.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
As a Winter Energy Support Specialist, you will be responsible for evaluating initial benefit applications as well as CRISIS applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
This is a full-time, seasonal role that typically spans 6-8 months during the fall and winter periods, focusing on assisting clients with their heating assistance applications.
Upon completion of comprehensive on-the-job training, your responsibilities will include conducting client interviews, liaising with heating service providers, and meticulously reviewing applications to recommend approval or denial of benefits in accordance with Federal and State guidelines.
The majority of your tasks will involve data entry and ensuring accuracy in documentation.
Your work will be closely monitored by an Income Maintenance Casework Supervisor, who will oversee the completeness and precision of your tasks, ensuring compliance with program regulations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- This is a non-permanent, full-time seasonal position associated with the LIHEAP program. Employment may commence as early as September and can extend until June.
- Standard working hours are from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, including a 60-minute lunch break. These hours may be adjusted based on operational requirements.
- Travel and overtime may be required as necessary.
- Shift work is not applicable.
- Work is conducted in a controlled office environment. Employees may be reassigned to different locations based on operational needs, in accordance with contract stipulations.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in general office work that included public interaction; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:

- Preference may be given to candidates residing within the specified county.
- Ability to perform essential job functions is required.
