Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled District Health and Safety Manager to join our team at Flatiron Construction Corp. This is a critical role that requires a strong background in health and safety management, with a proven track record of developing and implementing effective safety programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of health and safety programs for a single mega project or multiple projects within a division.
  • Develop and maintain safety procedures and practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Implement safety training programs and initiatives, aligned with the company's core health and safety program.
  • Review project trend analysis to ensure accurate tracking of accidents, injuries, and other safety-related incidents.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of safety orientations, trainings, and project site toolbox talks for all project staff.
  • Direct project site training, equipment needs, and inspection requirements to support construction schedules and promote project cost savings.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by management.
  • Support project safety equipment procurement and maintenance needs, as needed.
  • Provide technical expertise to high-risk or complex safety issues, as needed.
  • Review project status and trend analysis reports to present during district operations meetings.
  • Oversee injury reporting and resolution for entire project sites.
  • Review investigation documentation and corrective action plans to ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented on the job site.
  • Review and approve daily hazard analysis (DHA) from direct reports and personal daily documentation to ensure accurate and timely tracking of safety procedures.
  • Participate in jobsite hazard analysis (JHA) discussions and documentation for the entire project plan.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in health and safety or a related field preferred.
  • 20+ years of experience in construction or safety required.
  • 10+ years of experience managing construction or safety teams required.
  • Experience in diverse, complex, and high-risk construction projects required.
  • Experience developing and implementing health and safety initiatives preferred.
  • Required company safety certifications.
  • Proven leadership skills with consistent and clear expectations communicated to direct reports and project stakeholders.
  • Proven skill and ability to communicate safety programs to senior company leadership.
  • Strong, proven skills identifying and mentoring direct report safety professionals.
  • Expert knowledge of construction site equipment, methods, and processes.
  • Expert knowledge of regulatory compliance, industry trends, and upcoming agency regulations that might impact the company and project production.
