Position Overview: The selected candidate will be an integral part of a leading Heavy Civil General Contractor with a robust and ongoing project pipeline, providing opportunities for professional growth and development while reporting directly to the Safety Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate Project Conditions: Analyze project environments by assessing the tasks at hand and the operational procedures of the client, including the machinery and materials involved.
  • Hazard Identification and Control: Collect vital information to pinpoint potential risks and impacts associated with existing hazards in the project and its operations. Formulate strategies and offer recommendations to eliminate or manage these risks.
  • Safety Plan Development: Create, review, and interpret Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), and safety execution plans to ensure compliance with safety standards during subcontractor selection.
  • Safety Process Management: Supervise the safety protocols during pre-construction and bid selection phases to ensure that safety measures are incorporated from the outset.
  • Safety Procedure Maintenance: Develop, revise, and distribute safety procedures to promote a safe and healthy work environment, aiming to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Training Development and Delivery: Design, prepare, and conduct safety training programs, including specialized sessions, re-certifications, new hire orientations, and procedural training. Monitor the effectiveness of these programs and ensure accurate documentation of training records.
  • Compliance Evaluation: Review and report on compliance issues within the current HCSS program, providing solutions for enhancement.
  • Professional Development: Participate in training sessions as necessary to continually enhance professional skills and stay informed about the latest safety practices.

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience in construction safety.
  • Certification as CHSO, CHST, or a bachelor’s degree in safety.
  • Experience in airport construction is preferred.
  • Experience in Heavy Civil construction is required.
