We are seeking an Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to oversee our initiatives in Chatsworth, CA. This role is crucial for the formulation and implementation of strategies that guarantee a secure working environment for our employees while minimizing ecological footprints. The EHS Manager will ensure adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations concerning environmental health and safety. This position will also focus on establishing a sustainable EHS management framework at the plant level and driving improvements in EHS performance and operational efficiency. Participation in the Danone North America EHS Leadership Network is expected.
Success in this role is achieved through exemplary leadership, strategic vision, and effective management, fostering a professional environment that supports the economic sustainability of the company.

Design, execute, and promote cost-efficient compliance training and regulatory safety and environmental initiatives. Formulate and enforce EHS policies, procedures, and best practices, ensuring alignment with new regulatory standards and implementing measures to mitigate risks to the organization. Establish and uphold an EHS Management System. Conduct thorough EHS evaluations at the facility, pinpoint areas needing enhancement, and spearhead corrective actions based on audits. Present EHS performance metrics to the manufacturing Plant Manager and Senior Director of Environmental Health and Safety. Supervise all EHS training programs and compliance requirements. Investigate workplace injuries, near-misses, and environmental incidents. Identify root causes of incidents and propose corrective action plans. Manage and monitor injury and illness statistics as well as environmental performance indicators. Lead initiatives aimed at reducing injury and illness rates, as well as environmental impacts and associated costs. Advocate for sustainability initiatives. Foster a proactive safety culture at the plant through a comprehensive Safety Management System. Cultivate an environment where employees are actively engaged in safety practices. Prepare, maintain, and ensure compliance with environmental reporting and permitting requirements, as well as Corporate EHS Standards. Provide guidance on EHS legislation and compliance obligations. Ensure the facility consistently meets OSHA/EPA standards, safety protocols, wastewater treatment operations, air quality permits, and waste management practices. Act as the liaison with local, state, and federal regulatory bodies.

Candidate Profile

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Chemistry, or a related discipline is required. In-depth knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations; familiarity with California state requirements is advantageous. A minimum of 7 years of experience in plant and manufacturing environments is essential.

Skills and Competencies:

Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Exceptional leadership qualities with a talent for mentoring and motivating teams. Effective management capabilities. Acts as a change agent to facilitate process enhancements and cultural shifts. Ability to create alignment across teams. Must exhibit adaptability and flexibility. Knowledgeable in maintaining compliance with HACCP, FQP, GMP, and Safety standards. Capable of working under pressure, managing conflicts, meeting strict deadlines, and handling multiple responsibilities. Proficient in assessing and implementing EHS best practices. Excellent organizational, recordkeeping, and documentation skills. Must possess emotional stability and maturity to navigate various challenges in decision-making. Ability to analyze multiple variables and select the most effective course of action for the organization.
