This position is situated within the Lunar Transportation division, dedicated to establishing sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar surface.
Role Overview
The selected candidate will be an integral part of a dedicated team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, employing standard engineering methodologies to design, install, modify, analyze, repair, and test various mechanical systems and equipment. This includes the development, release, and support of engineering documentation throughout the product lifecycle to facilitate hardware fabrication, assembly, verification, testing, and operational processes. The engineer will implement operational protocols, troubleshoot system issues, and provide technical insights. Additionally, they will research and assess customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other documentation to determine the feasibility, cost, and maintenance needs of designs or applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the lifecycle of Ventilation and Atmosphere Revitalization fan assemblies and their interfaces: from conception and design to build, testing, installation, and operational phases.
- Establish functional and performance requirements while specifying necessary hardware.
- Conduct system calculations to ensure optimal performance.
- Integrate fan assemblies into Environmental Control and Life Support (ECLS) systems.
- Define and maintain system interfaces and schematics.
- Collaborate with your team to resolve technical and programmatic challenges.
- Engage actively in the development and testing phases of your hardware.
- Lead a cross-functional product team to achieve project goals.
- Manage schedules and budgets for the hardware under your purview.
- Ensure compliance with Blue Origin and NASA technical standards.
- Act as the primary technical contact for your assigned hardware.
- Participate in the selection process for suppliers.
- Adhere to Blue Origin's Leadership Principles.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience in one or more phases of the product lifecycle.
- Proven experience leading small technical teams.
- Background in the development of fans and blowers.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Creo software.
- Experience with fans, blowers, and their control systems.
- Experience in managing small projects.
- Involvement in crewed spaceflight programs.
- Experience collaborating with suppliers during hardware development.
