Lead Mechanical and Plumbing Engineer

As a key member of our engineering team, you will take charge of creating essential project documentation, including narratives, calculations, drawings, and specifications. Your role will involve:
- Leading client meetings and facilitating coordination between various project teams.
- Applying your engineering expertise to assess and implement effective techniques and procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assembling and guiding high-performing project teams.
- Overseeing plumbing design calculations and selecting appropriate equipment.
- Conducting site visits and generating detailed reports on findings.
- Providing mentorship and professional development opportunities for junior staff.
- Writing and updating plumbing specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Participating in leadership committees to drive firm initiatives.
- Determining plumbing system requirements for diverse building types.
- Ensuring adherence to the project quality management plan and leading project teams to deliver on time and within budget.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) is preferred.
- Certification as a Plumbing Designer (CPD) is a plus.
- LEED accreditation is advantageous.
- A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in MEP consulting or 7 years in a related field.
- Expertise in mechanical and plumbing system design.
- A thorough understanding of building codes and plumbing design standards, including UPC, IPC, NFPA, and IBC.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey design options.
- Exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office setting that may include the presence of pets. Standard office equipment such as computers and phones will be utilized.
Physical Requirements
Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required. Regular tasks include sitting, using hands for typing or handling materials, and effective communication with team members.
