Overview

By Light Professional IT Services is in search of an Electro-Mechanical Assembly Specialist II to accurately assemble sub-electro and mechanical components into higher-level assemblies. This role involves building complex assemblies according to detailed instructions, schematics, and visual aids that adhere to IPC standards and By Light's quality requirements. The position entails the installation and integration of multi-level assemblies, culminating in the finalization of By Light's product offerings.

This position does not involve shift work; our core hours are from 7 AM to 4:30 PM. We provide a clean, air-conditioned work environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Utilize mechanical expertise to perform both routine and intricate tasks.

- Operate power and hand tools in an electro-mechanical setting.

- Complete sub and higher-level assembly builds by interpreting moderate to complex drawings and work instructions.

- Demonstrate a moderate level of computer proficiency, particularly with computer hardware.

- Troubleshoot electro-mechanical failure modes, collaborating with internal stakeholders and suppliers to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

- Employ testing equipment to ensure product quality and reliability.

- Commit to a culture of continuous improvement and participate in Lean metric reporting. Engage actively in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing products and processes.

- Frequently solder and crimp various wire sizes; assemble wire circuits, cables, and electronic components.

- Successfully complete assembly builds on moderate to complex first article assemblies, adhering to By Light's quality standards and IPC workmanship guidelines.

- Obtain and maintain IPC certifications for the latest revisions of J and 620 standards.

- Assist in on-the-job training for junior assemblers.

- Undertake additional duties as assigned to support the company's objectives.

Required Experience/Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

- A minimum of 2 years' experience in soldering, cabling, and crimping, with proven expertise in electro-mechanical assembly and rework within a manufacturing context.

- Ability to read, comprehend, and work from technical written instructions and drawings.

- Soldering experience in accordance with IPC J standards, along with assembly experience using IPC 620 standards.

- Proficient in performing a variety of operations to assemble, rework, and modify electronic and electromechanical products, including circuit card assembly and repair, utilizing hand tools such as crimpers, cutters, soldering irons, and ESD monitoring systems.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

- Soldering experience in line with IPC J standards and assembly practices using IPC 620 standards.

Special Requirements/Security Clearance

- Candidates must be U.S. Persons as defined in the ITAR, 22 CFR (U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien Status) and as outlined by 8 U.S.C. 1101(a).

Physical Demands

- While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is also required to sit and occasionally climb or balance; use hands to touch, and reach forward and overhead. The employee must frequently lift up to 35 pounds unassisted and occasionally assist in moving items up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include color vision, close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. There may be a requirement to work with hazardous materials.

- The work environment is primarily climate-controlled, with occasional exposure to non-climate-controlled settings. The employee may be at risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the manufacturing area is considered low to moderate, while it may be moderate to loud in storage areas.
