Overview

The role involves precise assembly of sub-electro and mechanical components into higher-level assemblies. Technicians will construct multi-level assemblies by following detailed instructions, schematics, and visual aids that adhere to IPC standards and By Light's quality requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Utilizing mechanical expertise to execute routine assembly tasks.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in operating both power and hand tools within an electro-mechanical setting.
  • Completing sub and higher-level assembly builds accurately, guided by moderate to complex drawings and work instructions.
  • Successfully executing assembly builds on fundamental to moderate first article assemblies, ensuring compliance with Raydon's quality and IPC workmanship standards.
  • Maintaining the ability to achieve and retain IPC certifications for the latest revisions of 620 & J standards.
  • Performing soldering and crimping processes with small gauge wiring.
  • Exhibiting a moderate level of computer skills.
  • Troubleshooting electro-mechanical failure modes effectively.
  • Utilizing test equipment to confirm product quality and reliability.
  • Engaging in a culture of continuous improvement and Lean metric reporting, actively participating in initiatives that enhance products and processes.
  • Completing additional duties as assigned.
Required Experience/Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is necessary, along with the ability to complete on-the-job training and perform effectively in a capabilities evaluation. Candidates should have:

  • A minimum of 3-12 months of experience as a Mechanical Assembler I or II.
  • Beginning to moderate experience in wire routing following IPC 620 standards.
  • A proven track record of building electro-mechanical assemblies that meet workmanship standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of By Light's assembly processes and standards.
  • A willingness to learn crimping, soldering, and reading technical drawings and work instructions.
  • The ability to pass and retain IPC certifications for the latest revision J standards within the first six months of employment.
  • Successful completion of IPC 620 certification.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications

Previous IPC certifications and wiring experience are advantageous.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The role also involves:

  • Regularly sitting and occasionally climbing or balancing.
  • Using hands to touch and reach forward and overhead.
  • Lifting up to 35 pounds unassisted frequently, and occasionally assisting with loads up to 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required include color vision, close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment is primarily climate-controlled, with occasional exposure to non-climate-controlled settings and the risk of electrical shock. Noise levels in the manufacturing area are generally low to moderate.
