Overview

By Light Professional IT Services is in search of an Electro-Mechanical Assembly Specialist II to accurately assemble sub-electro and mechanical components into higher-level assemblies. This role involves constructing higher-level assemblies based on detailed instructions, diagrams, and visual aids that adhere to IPC standards and By Light's quality requirements. The position also includes the installation and integration of multi-level assemblies until the final completion of By Light's product offerings.

This position is not shift work; our core hours are from 7 AM to 4:30 PM. We provide a clean, air-conditioned work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize mechanical expertise to execute routine and complex tasks.
  • Operate both power and hand tools within an Electro-Mechanical setting.
  • Complete sub and higher-level assembly builds accurately, following moderate to complex drawings and work instructions.
  • Demonstrate a moderate level of computer proficiency alongside a strong understanding of computer hardware.
  • Troubleshoot electro-mechanical failure modes, collaborating with internal customers and suppliers to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Employ test equipment to ensure product quality and reliability.
  • Commit to a culture of continuous improvement and participate actively in Lean metric reporting and improvement events.
  • Frequently solder and crimp various wire sizes; assemble wire circuits, cables, and electronic components.

Successfully complete assembly builds on moderate to complex first article assemblies, adhering to By Light's quality standards, IPC workmanship standards, and best practices.

Achieve and maintain IPC certifications for the latest revisions of J and 620 standards.

Assist in training lower-level assemblers through on-the-job mentoring.

Perform other duties as assigned to enhance the company's operations.

Required Experience/Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in soldering, cabling, and crimping, demonstrating proficiency in electro-mechanical assembly and rework within a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to read, comprehend, and work from technical written instructions and drawings.
  • Experience in soldering per IPC J standard and constructing assemblies following IPC 620 standards.
  • Capable of performing various operations to assemble, rework, and modify electronic and electromechanical products, including circuit card assembly and repair, using hand tools such as crimpers, cutters, soldering irons, and ESD monitoring systems.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications
  • Familiarity with IPC J standard soldering and IPC 620 standard assembly.
Special Requirements/Security Clearance

Candidates must be U.S. Persons as defined in the ITAR, 22 CFR (U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien Status) and as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101(a) (20).

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is also required to sit and occasionally climb or balance, using hands to touch and arms to reach forward and overhead. The employee must frequently lift up to 35 pounds unassisted and occasionally assist in moving up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include color vision, close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. There may be a need to work with hazardous materials.

The work environment is primarily climate-controlled, with occasional exposure to non-climate-controlled settings. The employee may face risks associated with electrical shock. The noise level in the manufacturing area is generally low to moderate, while it may be moderate to loud in storage areas.
