As a Senior Classroom Educator, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission, values, and objectives while leading the classroom teaching team.
Your primary focus will be to foster a respectful and collaborative classroom atmosphere where children, families, and staff unite for shared success.
In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of your classroom, ensuring high-quality, responsive caregiving, implementing intentional curriculum, and adhering to regulatory standards. You will also guide and support assistant educators and classroom volunteers, working in partnership with families to facilitate each child's growth and learning.
Reliability and independence are essential traits for our Senior Classroom Educators, who must consistently uphold the organization’s image and reputation both internally and externally.
At least two years of experience in an educational setting is required.
Career Pathway Level (CPL 3) or higher is preferred.
Familiarity with ODJFS licensing regulations is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
Maintain vigilant supervision of children at all times to guarantee safe and appropriate play, while monitoring all play areas to ensure safety and cleanliness of equipment; all children must be visible at all times.
Exhibit a thorough understanding of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Child Care Licensing Rules and the policies and procedures of Columbus Early Learning Centers.
Ensure child-staff ratios are maintained consistently.Accurately record child attendance and meal counts on a daily basis.
Plan and uphold a safe, clean, sanitary, and organized learning environment.
Respond effectively to crisis or emergency situations by providing First Aid or CPR, assessing the need for emergency services, and preventing the spread of illness.
Protect all children from any form of physical punishment or verbal abuse during program activities, and report any such incidents immediately to the Center Director.
Observe children for signs of illness, injury, emotional disturbances, learning disorders, or other special needs, and report these observations promptly to the Center Director for appropriate follow-up.
Monitor for any suspected or disclosed signs of child abuse or neglect and report them immediately to the Center Director and/or the relevant child welfare agency.
Safeguard all classroom supplies and equipment, and account for any misused, damaged, or missing items.Responsible for the cleaning and general upkeep of the classroom.
