Position Summary

The role of Systems Administrator II involves the effective management, installation, configuration, and maintenance of all systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This position plays a crucial role in technical research and development, fostering innovation within the organization’s infrastructure. The Systems Administrator ensures compliance with organizational policies regarding system hardware, operating systems, and software systems. This role is responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and performance optimization of critical enterprise systems, serving as a technical authority in system administration for complex operating systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the organization's computer systems, ensuring optimal performance, configuration, maintenance, and repair. Maintain accurate records of system downtime and equipment inventory, and collaborate with vendors for support activities.
  • Develop and implement new system and application plans, including custom scripts and testing procedures to guarantee operational reliability. Provide training to technical staff on new software and hardware.
  • Apply necessary firmware upgrades and conduct ongoing performance tuning and resource optimization.
  • Manage the installation and upgrades of systems management tools, ensuring daily monitoring of system integrity and availability, and overseeing backup operations.
  • Establish procedures to maintain system security and protect against unauthorized access and other threats.
  • Conduct regular security assessments to identify potential intrusions and address security issues in line with organizational policies.
  • Engineer solutions related to system administration for various projects and operational needs, including disaster recovery planning and documentation maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing clear explanations of technical issues and recommendations.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients, adhering to all relevant regulations and policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required.
  • Relevant certifications in Microsoft, Linux, or Unix are mandatory.
  • A minimum of 3 years of related experience or 5 years of previous relevant experience is required.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Linux, and Unix operating systems is essential.
  • Experience with virtualization concepts and tools is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Cloud Technologies such as Azure and Office 365 is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of computer security and networking concepts.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a virtualized environment.
  • Must comply with PCI standards.
