Position Overview:


Wells Fargo is in search of a Senior Credit Risk Strategist to deliver comprehensive credit evaluations to senior credit officials, Chief Risk Officers (CROs), the Chief Credit Officer (CCO), and various business collaborators. This role is crucial for supporting credit risk management, establishing credit risk appetite, strategic planning, and optimizing capital.

The Senior Credit Risk Strategist will generate both ad-hoc and standardized periodic reports focused on credit risk assessment and portfolio oversight for the Wholesale Credit portfolio. Additionally, this role will assist in managing the Risk Measurement Program, identifying emerging risks, quantifying their impacts, and forecasting portfolio performance.


Key Responsibilities:


Provide strategic advice to senior management in formulating and executing strategies, programs, and policies that significantly influence credit risk appetite.


Lead intricate initiatives that span multiple functions and have a broad impact, playing a vital role in cultivating the company's credit culture and enhancing business performance in Credit Risk.


Evaluate and scrutinize complex strategies, programs, and policies that directly affect credit risk appetite and organizational culture.


Deliver innovative, long-term solutions that require vision, creativity, and advanced analytical skills, while coordinating complex activities and guiding others.


Produce high-quality ad-hoc and standardized periodic reports focused on credit risk analysis and portfolio management for the Wholesale Credit portfolio.

Continuously monitor portfolio, financial, market, and economic data to assess impacts on credit fundamentals.

Develop and implement analytical tools to identify, monitor, and analyze risks related to single names, sectors, concentrations, and portfolios.

Oversee, evaluate, and report on asset quality, portfolio trends, and deviations from credit policies.

Identify emerging credit risks and correlated risk pools that could potentially affect earnings and capital, collaborating with CRO organizations to devise risk mitigation strategies.

Establish and execute Business As Usual (BAU) stress testing procedures that inform risk identification and appetite.

Provide constructive challenges to line of business credit products, programs, and policies.


Support the Business Loss Forecast (BLF), Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL), and Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) processes, along with credit migration management and concentration management through credit research.

Offer key stakeholders reliable subject matter expertise and transparent analysis and reporting.

Engage with Audit, Legal, external agencies, and regulatory bodies on risk-related matters.

Qualifications:


5+ years of experience in Credit Risk, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military experience, and education.


Preferred Qualifications:
5 years of relevant experience, ideally encompassing credit risk, markets, credit research, or portfolio management.


Proven ability to evaluate the quality of lending and manage ongoing credit risk within the organization, ensuring compliance with risk appetite, credit policies, and regulations.

Strong skills in commercial credit analysis.

Ability to present complex information in a clear and understandable manner to all management levels.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with the ability to translate findings into strategic initiatives.

In-depth knowledge of debt markets, debt instruments, and commercial loan products.

Experience with corporate credit relative value and market-based pricing is advantageous.

A Bachelor's degree or higher in finance, accounting, business, or a quantitative discipline.
