Key Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant will be instrumental in overseeing Horizon Media's financial operations, ensuring adherence to US GAAP and internal accounting standards, while refining financial reporting processes to facilitate the company's growth and success.

Financial Reporting:
  • Oversee the monthly closing procedures, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Work closely with account management teams to understand client relationships and contracts for monthly variance analysis.
  • Develop executive-level reports that effectively communicate financial outcomes.
Project Accounting:
  • Manage the accounting processes within QuickBooks for all owned properties and client experiential projects. Responsibilities include:
    • Assist in creating project budgets through collaboration with project teams and analysis of previous event outcomes.
    • Handle client invoicing and collections.
    • Manage bill approval workflows and vendor payments.
    • Reconcile credit card expenditures to specific projects.
    • Consolidate monthly QuickBooks entries with the overall company general ledger.
Financial Analysis:
  • Update annual forecasts monthly with the latest actual results and anticipated changes.
  • Support the annual budgeting process, including planning cycle coordination, revenue forecasting, and evaluation of headcount and expenses.
  • Collaborate with the workforce planning team to prepare and analyze employee hours and client profitability.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Partner with the VP of Finance and other stakeholders to enhance processes and manage procedures across the finance function.
  • Provide oversight and support for strategic finance needs, ad hoc analyses, and various projects as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or equivalent certification preferred).
  • 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience in production accounting is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and regulations (i.e., US GAAP).
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, particularly QuickBooks and NetSuite.
  • Strong analytical abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Certifications
  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

Compensation
Salary Range: $80,000 - $95,000.

The actual base salary for a successful applicant may vary based on skill sets, experience, training, certifications, and equity considerations.
