Customer Service Specialist

Position Overview: The Customer Service Specialist is a full-time remote position dedicated to providing exceptional phone support while managing payments for healthcare services. This role involves offering solutions and negotiating repayment options that align with the interests of patients, clients, and the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
- Handles inbound and outbound calls to/from patients regarding payment for healthcare services.
- Offers viable solutions and negotiates repayment plans that meet the needs of the patient and the organization.
- Collects and documents relevant patient information, including demographics and insurance details, using internal systems.
- Utilizes technology and online resources to address patient inquiries and resolve issues.
- Practices active listening to ensure clarity and understanding, while effectively managing distressed patients.
- Educates patients about the healthcare financial process and available repayment options to enhance their financial health.
- Adheres to departmental protocols and complies with industry regulations.
- Refers patients to appropriate departments when necessary.
- Builds strong relationships with colleagues to promote open communication and teamwork.
- Meets established performance metrics and expectations for the role.
- Maintains the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality in all duties.
- Engages in professional development to support personal and organizational objectives, completing required training and compliance programs.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Preferred: 1+ years of experience in a customer service role.
- Preferred: 1+ years of experience in a collaborative team environment.
- Preferred: Basic knowledge of contact center operations.
- Preferred: Familiarity with the collections sector, healthcare revenue cycle, and medical billing terminology.
