AECOM is looking for an Assistant Project Manager for Railroad Utilities.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

In this role, you will operate under the guidance of the Utilities Project Manager and the Senior Project Manager for Utilities. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate utility operations among clients, design builders, project construction management teams, and external utility providers. You will engage in resolving utility and railroad challenges, compile progress reports, and develop and uphold systems for tracking project issues and resolutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with clients, design builders, project construction management teams, and external utilities or railroads, participate in meetings, and assess project documentation.
  • Identify and report utility or railroad-related challenges and contribute to their resolution.
  • Compile status updates and maintain a log for tracking issues and their resolutions.
  • Draft technical correspondence and create detailed reports; evaluate situations accurately and implement effective solutions; establish project objectives and targets.
  • Foster and maintain constructive relationships with external utilities or railroads.
  • Work alongside clients, project construction management, and design builders to set priorities, monitor advancement, and ensure alignment with client goals and requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree in Engineering, Business, or Law, along with experience in the utility or railroad sector.
  • Experience in creating and evaluating alternative route studies.
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage extensive data sets and effectively communicate insights derived from them.
  • Experience in reviewing utility and railroad designs to ensure adherence to land rights and design standards.
  • Familiarity with the Caltrans Utility Relocation Manual, federal regulations, and California state laws.
  • Ability to maintain effective communication and relationships with external agencies, management, consultants, contractors, and their associations.
  • Recognize potential land rights conflicts that may delay project timelines.
  • A basic understanding of land surveying principles and the ability to interpret and plot legal descriptions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging knowledgeably with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, Power BI, scheduling tools, and SharePoint.
