Utility Field Specialist

Key Responsibilities

· The Utility Field Specialist is tasked with gathering essential data related to utility poles for engineering assessments and load evaluations.

· This role involves surveying designated poles and compiling necessary documentation, images, and other relevant information for project completion. Additionally, it is crucial to ensure that all documents and images are accurately uploaded for the estimation team.

· Work closely with Estimators to guarantee that field packages are assembled correctly.

· Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills to engage with homeowners for access to poles situated on private properties and behind secured gates, while also discussing project specifics and obtaining necessary permissions for construction modifications.

· Frequent travel across the service area is required to fulfill job responsibilities.

Essential Qualifications

· Proficient in measuring, surveying, and documenting critical data from poles, equipment, and right-of-way areas.

· A clean driving record and the capability to operate a company vehicle safely.

· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers and project teams.

· Competence in reading, writing clearly, and understanding project scopes and details.

· Ability to learn and comprehend construction and engineering standards.

· Capability to walk, stand, climb, or sit for extended durations.

· Must safely access poles on uneven terrain and work outdoors for prolonged periods in various weather conditions.

· Proficient in computer usage, with experience in software such as Microsoft Office.

· Self-motivated with the ability to manage time effectively in a minimally supervised environment.

· Ability to meet or exceed daily productivity targets.

Preferred Qualifications

· 1-3 years of experience in utility engineering or field data collection for pole loading analysis in Power, Telecom, or CATV projects.

· Familiarity with engineering and construction standards, including span length limits, pole loading, intrusive testing, anchoring, and attachment heights.

· Knowledge of GO 95 requirements.

· Experience in electrical distribution.
