Alera Group Midwest is seeking a Benefits Analyst to enhance their employee benefits division in a hybrid capacity. The Benefits Analyst is crucial in collaborating with Producers and the Client Service team to analyze and present client financial data concerning the management and retention of employee benefits. This role involves direct client interaction and necessitates a solid understanding of employee benefit concepts, financial and accounting practices, and plan design to effectively assist clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the renewal and marketing process, which includes:
    • Identifying plans due for renewal monthly.
    • Collecting vendor information and client data for marketing initiatives.
    • Working with the Client Service team to develop RFPs and distribute them to carriers.
    • Preparing proposal data for client presentations.
  • Gather, assess, and interpret client reports from insurance providers, data analytics platforms, and other pertinent sources, including claims and enrollment reports, utilization statistics, etc.
  • Deliver benchmarking and plan modeling utilizing available tools and resources.
  • Prepare and present financial data during client meetings, which may encompass renewal forecasts, premium calculations for self-funded clients, and budgeting strategies.
  • Maintain and update team members and systems with collected information and reports.
  • Support the new business sales process by assisting in the preparation of RFPs, proposals, and presentations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Life and Health Insurance State License (mandatory).
  • Professional Certification preferred (GBA, PHR, CLU, CEBS, CBP).
  • 3-5 years of experience in insurance carrier, benefits administration, or insurance brokerage roles.
Required Skills:
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge in:
    • Employer healthcare funding (fully insured, self-funding, level funding).
    • Healthcare plan structures (HMO, PPO, CDHP).
    • Stop-loss insurance and pharmacy benefits.
    • Dental, vision, life, disability, and wellness programs.
    • Regulatory framework of employee benefit plans.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Intermediate understanding of statistical mathematics.
  • Capability to prioritize, work independently, and achieve objectives with minimal oversight.
  • Sound judgment and accountability for results.
  • High attention to detail with a proven record of producing precise work.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, especially MS Excel, including knowledge of formulas, functions, pivot tables, and charts.
  • A passion for collaborative teamwork.
  • Exceptional relationship management and customer service skills.
  • A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of client data confidentiality.
