Alera Group Midwest is looking for a Employee Benefits Consultant to become a vital member of their employee benefits division in a hybrid capacity.
The Benefits Consultant is essential in collaborating with Producers and our Client Service team to analyze and present client financial data related to the acquisition and retention of employee benefits. This role is client-facing and necessitates a solid understanding of employee benefit principles and solutions, financial and accounting functions, and plan design to effectively support our clients.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the renewal and marketing process, which includes:
- Identifying plans due for renewal on a monthly basis.
- Collecting vendor information and client data for marketing initiatives.
- Working with the Client Service team to develop RFPs and distribute them to carriers.
- Preparing proposal data for client presentations.
- Gather, review, and assess client reports from insurance providers, data analytics systems, and other pertinent sources, including claims reports, enrollment statistics, utilization data, etc.
- Provide benchmarking and plan modeling utilizing available tools and resources.
- Prepare and deliver financial information during client meetings, which may encompass renewal forecasts, premium calculations for self-funded clients, and budgeting and contribution strategies.
- Maintain and update team members and systems with collected information and reports.
- Support the new business sales process by assisting in the preparation of RFPs, proposals, and presentations.
- Oversee the renewal and marketing process, which includes:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Life and Health Insurance State License (required).
- Professional Certification preferred (GBA, PHR, CLU, CEBS, CBP).
- 3-5 years of experience in insurance carrier, benefits administration, and/or insurance brokerage roles.
Experience and Skills Required:
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge in:
- Funding of employer healthcare (fully insured, self-funding, level funding).
- Healthcare plan structures (HMO, PPO, CDHP).
- Stop-loss insurance and pharmacy benefits.
- Dental, vision, life, disability, and wellbeing programs.
- Regulatory environment of employee benefit plans.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate understanding of statistical mathematics.
- Ability to prioritize, work independently, and achieve objectives with minimal supervision.
- Sound judgment and a willingness to take responsibility for results.
- High attention to detail and a history of producing accurate work.
- Proficiency in computer skills, particularly MS Excel, including an understanding of formulas, functions, pivot tables, and charts.
- A passion for working collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
- Exceptional relationship management and customer service skills.
- A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of client data confidentiality.
