Position Summary:
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be pivotal in overseeing the production and assembly of mechanical components essential for our advanced fusion energy systems. This role necessitates a unique blend of technical acumen and manufacturing expertise, along with strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges in the fusion energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure that designs are feasible, economical, and suitable for production.
  • Evaluate designs and offer constructive feedback to engineers to enhance manufacturability and cost-effectiveness at scale.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams in the laboratory, including electrical, software, and mechanical engineers, to facilitate the assembly of system-level designs.
  • Lead initiatives and partner with mechanical engineers to formulate assembly and tooling strategies for the production of various pulser subsystems.
  • Create resource-loaded production schedules to meet ambitious timelines.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in manufacturing technologies.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to implement design modifications that improve manufacturing processes across system components.
  • Engage in risk assessments and devise mitigation strategies.

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering is required; a Master's Degree is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in an engineering role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of various manufacturing processes, including sand casting, die-casting, forging, welding, injection molding, 3D printing, and CNC machining.
  • Strong knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
  • Expertise in the production and assembly of mechanical systems; familiarity with high voltage systems is a plus.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, with a track record of mentoring junior engineers.
  • Proficient in CAD software, such as Creo or NX CAD.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience in hands-on engineering design and rapid prototyping in a laboratory environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Salary:
The salary range for this position is $160,000-$220,000, determined by qualifications and experience.
