Position Summary:
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be pivotal in overseeing the production and assembly of mechanical components essential for our cutting-edge fusion energy systems. This role demands a unique blend of technical acumen and manufacturing insight, along with exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to tackle the challenges in the fusion energy sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure that designs are feasible, economical, and suitable for production.
- Evaluate designs and provide essential feedback to engineering teams to enhance manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams in the laboratory, including electrical, software, and mechanical engineers, for the assembly of comprehensive system designs.
- Lead initiatives and collaborate with mechanical engineers to create assembly and tooling strategies for the production of various pulser subsystems.
- Develop resource-loaded production schedules to meet ambitious timelines.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in manufacturing technologies.
- Work alongside mechanical engineers to implement design modifications that improve manufacturing processes across system components.
- Engage in risk assessments and formulate strategies for mitigation.
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering is required; a Master's Degree is advantageous.
- A minimum of 6 years of professional experience as an Engineer.
- In-depth knowledge of various manufacturing processes, including sand casting, die-casting, forging, welding, injection molding, 3D printing, and CNC machining.
- Strong grasp of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Comprehensive understanding of the production and assembly of mechanical systems; familiarity with high voltage systems is a plus.
- Proven leadership abilities, with a capacity to mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Proficient in CAD software, such as Creo or NX CAD.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience in hands-on engineering design, rapid prototyping, and innovative problem-solving in a lab environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
