Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Semiconductor Laser Research Engineer to support our advanced semiconductor laser research and development programs at nLIGHT. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and leading Wafer Fab Processes for fabricating innovative semiconductor lasers in III-V semiconductor materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop novel process designs to solve fabrication challenges
  • Design and create CAD drawings of photo masks
  • Collaborate with Epitaxy, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Equipment Engineering, and NPI Groups
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree with 4+ years of experience or Bachelor's with 6+ years of experience in chemical, material, photonics, electronics, or related physical sciences field
  • Experience in process engineering of electronics or photonics devices
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication of electronics or photonics devices: wafer process experience for GaAs/InP photonic devices, especially skills with photo lithography and nano lithography, Wet-/Dry-etching, oxide film deposition, sputter coating, and metal evaporation process/equipment
  • Strong knowledge of properties of III-V semiconductors, especially GaAs/InP preferred
  • Understanding of manufacturing process control tools and methods such as SPC, DFM, FMEA, etc. Design-of-experiment (DOE) methodology and statistics-based data analysis in support of R&D programs
Estimated Salary:$80,000 - $120,000 annually based on qualifications.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including a starting salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 annually, a target cash bonus of 5% of your wages, eligibility for Restricted Stock Unit grants, and more.
