Laser Process Development Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead the development and implementation of new manufacturing processes and systems, enabling efficient volume scaling of production lines.

nLIGHT is a leading manufacturer of high-performance lasers for various industries, including materials processing, microelectronics, and defense applications. Our team has extensive experience in developing and manufacturing fiber lasers based on industry-leading semiconductor laser and optical fiber technology.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes to drive efficiency and quality improvements, leveraging analytical techniques, lean manufacturing, and six sigma concepts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new manufacturing equipment and tools, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Support manufacturing operations by generating BOMs and routes, documenting work instructions, and training personnel.
- Evaluate and procure new manufacturing equipment and tools to enhance production capabilities.
Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering (Optical, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Physics) or equivalent industrial experience in related technologies.
- 3+ years of experience in process or product development of lasers, optics, optical fiber, or related disciplines.
- Experience with efficiently scaling production lines from medium to high volume, utilizing project management skills and situational leadership abilities.
- Hands-on working experience with optical fibers, lasers, optics, and precision opto-mechanical systems and tools, as well as mechanical drawings and basic tooling design.
Estimated Salary Range: $140,000 - $190,000 per year
