Role Summary:

The Histology Technician II is responsible for the meticulous preparation of tissue samples for a variety of diagnostic evaluations, which includes the collection and analysis of relevant data. This role also entails ensuring the proper functioning of instruments utilized in these procedures. Furthermore, the technician will take on a leadership role in areas such as grossing, research, special staining, or other specified categories as dictated by departmental needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handling and processing of specimens; maintaining specimen integrity
  • Performing maintenance on laboratory instruments
  • Collecting and analyzing data; executing special stains
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and quality assurance protocols
  • Providing support to physicians and departmental operations
  • Carrying out additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in laboratory or medical laboratory technology is preferred
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a histological environment is required
  • HT or HTL (ASCP) certification is mandatory
  • Willingness to travel as necessary

Physical Demands:

Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment, including calculators, copiers, and printers.
