Purpose and Scope:

The primary objective of this role within the organization is to facilitate the effective application of the RTI2 Framework at designated educational institutions. This position operates under the guidance of the school Principal to reduce the percentage of students who fall below the 25th percentile on standardized assessments. The Academic Intervention Specialist will deliver targeted instruction to eligible students, consistently evaluating their progress to enhance teaching methods and student achievements. This role demands exceptional organizational capabilities, strong interpersonal skills, and proficient verbal and written communication abilities.

Essential Job Functions:
This position description is not intended to encompass all responsibilities, knowledge, or skills associated with this classification but aims to accurately represent the core job elements.

  1. Offers leadership and support to school administrators in executing the Response to Instruction and Intervention framework.
  2. Fosters a learning environment that is supportive and suitable for the developmental stages and requirements of students; prepares instructional resources for assigned students and provides documented evidence of preparation to supervisors upon request.
  3. Establishes a standard for classroom conduct; upholds classroom management both within and outside the school setting.
  4. Designs and develops evidence-based and/or research-supported Tier II and Tier III academic intervention lessons and supplementary instructional materials tailored to the individual needs of students based on identified areas of deficiency.
  5. Communicates required notifications regarding student progress to parents.
  6. Collaborates with school personnel to assess screening and progress monitoring data, assisting RTI Data Teams in ensuring student advancement.
  7. Provides assistance to school staff in the implementation of Response to Instruction and Intervention through coaching and close collaboration.
  8. Delivers individual student reports from intervention platforms to the RTI Data Team.
  9. Monitors the utilization of intervention platforms by reviewing teacher reports and supplying updates to the principal or designated representative.
  10. Participates actively as a member of the school-level RTI team.
  11. Attends relevant meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
  12. Works in partnership with school leadership to guarantee the effective implementation of RTI and offers strategic support to individual educators.
  13. Performs additional related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor's degree and an endorsement in the area of intervention. Must possess the physical and mental capacity to fulfill the responsibilities and duties of the position. Preferred Teacher Effectiveness scores of three (3), four (4), or five (5).

Degree Equivalency Formula:
Bachelor's Degree = 4 years plus required years of experience.
Master's Degree = 2 years plus required years of experience. When Master's degrees are mandated, years for Bachelor's Degrees must be included.
